Plot Summary: Guess Who's Coming To Dinner? deals the (at the time) controversial topic of interracial relationships/marriages. The film tells the story of a liberal couple (Matt & Christiana Drayton) who have always instilled in their daughter Joey (played by Kate's niece, Katharine Houghton) that race does not matter, but are still nonetheless taken aback and shocked when she brings home a handsome black doctor John Wade Prentice (Sideny Poitier).

Credits: The picture was directed and produced by Stanely Kramer, written by William Rose (who received an Oscar for his screenplay).

Other: While the film's subject matter is dated today, it caused somewhat of an uproar at the time, as intermarriage was still illegal in 14 states.

Awards: Both Tracy (posthumously) and Hepburn were nominated for Academy Awards, but only Hepburn won (her second Oscar). "It's okay," She said, upon hearing Tracy didn’t win, "We can share this one."

She did not attend the ceremony, and George Cukor accepted the award on her behalf.
